The well attended Ferrari 70th anniversary sale in Maranello on the whole showed the collectable car market is firing on all [12] cylinders as sales at RM Sotheby's sun drenched Saturday auction tipped the scales at €59,567,570, despite higher than normal commission premiums.

Highlights
- 42 cars entered, 36 sold 86% sell through rate
- 47% exceeed the low estimate
- 25% exceeded the high estimate
- Average year sold 1982
- Peak sale La Ferrari Aperta €8.3m - charity auction
- Special 488 Spider sold for 3 times its low estimate at €960k
- Alloy bodied Daytona (unrestored) €1.8m
- 400i once owned by Keith Richards sold for €345k!!

Interestingly, a LWB California with a chequered history hammered at €7m, under its €7.5 to 9.0m estimate which isn't too surprising, but a 250 SWB Competizione not attracting a meaningful bid is a bit more telling of what's "en-vogue" right now. The market is looking at a 3 decade spread for value now and the rising tide is lifting all boats in the 80's, 90's and 00's category, telling us its hard to find value in cars that may have reached the top of the "J" curve effect.
